Hidden Figures

Hidden figures is a movie that gives us a look back into the history of African Americans living in the US during a time where racism and prejudice was still very predominant in the minds of many white Americans, so much that it would not let them see the achievements and abilities of African Americans, instead  they would doubt and out obstacles in their way as to not let them excel. In the movie we see the lives of 3 African American women that work as computers in NASA, all of them with abilities much greater than their positions. One off them in particular, Katherine, is transferred to a department where she is required to verify very important calculations, yet due to her skin color, her own colleagues are very skeptical of her until she proves them wrong and not only that, but she plays a very important part on the success of the Friendship 7, a very important mission on the American space race against Russia. Since then, there has been many changes in the mentality of Americans and the prejudice and hatred has lowered, yet it is still not over, specially now with who they have as president many old ways of thinking are coming back. If instead of having these prejudices since the beginning, and creating your own personal opinion, not only would technology but pretty much every aspect of human day to day life would improve and increase the quality of life we currently have. I think that if things go the right way, we could see a future that doesn’t have to worry about what people think about others in a general sense and instead saw them as what they are, individuals with their own flaws and advantages that can each contribute something different to make our world better
